Interesting proposal from Marcus Ryder (as always!) And he's right: Diamond gave an annual overview of diversity in the industry but raised as many questions as it answered. In particular, it didn't give the people on the recruiting frontline - Indies, Commissioners - the granular detail about their own productions, talent networks, shortlists etc that would enable them to make informed choices about how, where and who they recruited. 1/2

2/2 In many ways, it allowed broadcasters and Indies to avoid responsibility by casting the lack of diversity as a general challenge of the TV environment, like inclement weather, rather than something each person and company could take informed, proactive action over.
