As we get ready to wave adios to January, how is everyone feeling?
There have been glimmers of freelance work and commissions, and further cuts and redundancies. Everyone I know is hoping it's just 'quiet January' and not quiet 2024
It's still not quite right and yet also not at all clear what it is
I keep seeing a job I know I'd be brilliant at posted everywhere... am I and the other 800 out of work PEs not up to scratch? Are jobs being over posted to create a sense of busyness? Or was it an internal hire that they had to advertise? In this weird time, who knows!!!
I don't think it would be true to suggest brighter days are coming if you take brighter to mean as before - but I do know a new month brings a chance to move forward, and hopefully a new way for us all. Whatever that may be
So let's continue to hold hypothetical hands and support each other and say a big farewell (shag off) to January
My intentions for February 2024:
1.Remember just because jobs are gold dust atm I don't have to react or respond immediately. Take a deep breath and take my time. A better approach will ensue
2. We can get through hard days, weeks and months. We are doing it!
3. I am going to stop focusing on what's outside of my control and focus on what is. I'm procrastinating so much I'm finding no resolution and less of that will
save me a lot of over thinking
4. If it doesn't go the way I planned it,
that doesn't mean I've failed, it just
means I am taking a different route. It (largely) isn't personal and I must remember that more - practice not preach
5. Our happiness, peace and head space is worth more than anything, lets prioritise it
Doors always open for February coffees and keep an eye out for a lovely passion project I'm working on with the next generation (students, not AI 🤣🤣🤣)
