Good evening all, I hope you're having a fab weekend so far.
I wanted to reach out as we near the end of 2023, and the days of my full-time corporate role become shorter. I am, as a lot of people are, struggling to get that first opportunity in TV and media.
I know a lot of people are feeling the challenges right now - even those with decades of experience in senior positions. However, I don't want to give up trying to secure that ever-important first credit as a runner or assistant.
I find a lot of 'entry level' roles will describe themselves as the place to begin a career... to then require experience already. This leaves a lot of people, myself included, stuck in a never-ending cycle of being rejected for jobs that, realistically, could be fulfilled with plenty of transferrable skills in other areas of entertainment.
If anyone has any tips, perhaps ways to engage with companies and individuals with the ability to provide opportunities, I would be greatly appreciative.
