What did Amy watch last night? Celebrity Race Across the World

I love RAW. It’s such a great concept: ambitious; adventurous; a masterpiece in story-telling. Controversially, I’ve not always loved the casting, but the competition element has always kept me engaged. When I watched the first ep last week I was disappointed by the route and I didn’t have much connection to the celebs, but I still tuned in last night and I’m so glad I did.

For me, Mel is the stand out star of the show. Her openness and vulnerability is so real and you can literally see her growing in confidence with every bit of the journey. Seeing a pop icon in such a raw light reminded me of my frustrations with Parky as a teenager. I used to watch every week with my folks, but I always wanted to know what the lives of the rich and famous were really like when they didn’t have a book or film to promote. Last night’s CRAW gave me what I’ve been waiting for all these years! And just as I've always assumed, celebs are just as vulnerable as me or you, but obviously we rarely get to see that side of them.

I also loved Harry and his Mum Emma. My trouble with the classic Celeb Parent/Child travelogues is that they’re always so produced, so watching that relationship in a much less constructed environment was so charming in its innocence.

Clearly, authenticity is really resonating with me at the moment. Perhaps I should mix it up a little tonight?!
