Strange but satisfying for our Vietnam War-themed project to be validated, as UK's 72 Films was inspired to track down & reach out to the subject of my 'G.I. Strange but satisfying for our Vietnam War-themed project to be validated, as UK's 72 Films was inspired to track down & reach out to the subject of my 'G.I. Says' documentary for possible participation in their own 6-part Vietnam war themed series after watching our film. (*they did not contact me, the filmmaker, though, despite a visible invitation to do so via email in the tail credits...that's the strange part.). Accordingly, I undertook a survey here on TTM some time ago where I described this situation as it was happening, with 100% of 26 respondents stating that a company should "Offer formal collaboration on some level if the filmmaker's research, material and/or concept is used". In another anonymous poll on Linkedin where I outlined the situation, respondents stated that it was 'odd'' and 'bad' for 72 Films to reach out to the subject of 'G.I. Says' while avoiding extending even a cordial 'hello' to the film's producers. When I finally made contact with series producer Caroline Marsden of 72 Films, she stated it would be unsuitable for me to claim a research credit in their production (researcher/development researcher) if my research artifact (our documentary 'G.I. Says') was used in their development process. Yet, other members of the community stated that it would be appropriate :) ULTIMATELY: Our Vietnam war themed series chugs onward, with 'G.I. Says' forming a viable demo segment and other compelling participants lined up! Contact camerado@camerado.com
