INSIGHTS: Making the first series of a format is challenging at the best of times, but making one about a really niche complicated subject and throwing a pandemic in the mix definitely put it up there! There have been so many competition shows, but this was the first to be commissioned by the specialist factual department so we always knew we had to approach it with a slightly different stance.

cont...This is the first time a real light is being shone on the jewellery industry, it's a magical world not many people know about and so it was really important to me to not mess it up! There is so much craft, passion and skill I had to work really hard to get my head around first before I could even do my job, I wanted to try my best to represent the industry in a strong light.

EXPERIENCE: I knew absolutely nothing about jewellery or the industry before I started so I basically had to learn about a whole new subject matter which was great! I threw myself into it and luckily had a great mentor in the industry as a sidekick which helped. He jokes that I basically did an MA in Jewellery during the production! It wasn't long before I knew so much from how to make a ring, where gold and diamonds come from and even the cost of silver per gram…

TEAM: Having spent a long time working for small indies, it was a big change working for Twenty Twenty, who are owned by Warner Brothers - so massive! But it was great that there were so many resources within the company to draw on. Lots of the team were from London, and it was one of two productions to come out of a new Bristol office so I loved showing hardened Londoners how there is life outside the M25!

Great idea. So annoyed I didn't think of this after finding some amazing custom makers. It was too niche following them, but widening it to a comp is great. Like all the best ideas, seems obvious once it's done!
