This #MentalHealthAwareness week I am sharing The Power of Words which I filmed, directed and edited last year. I devised workshops and filmed with members of the Status Employment group, a career support service to those with short-term and long-term mental health challenges and people with disabilities.
The film explores the weight that words hold in our everyday lives, and how we can question, nurture, and shape our relationship with them. The wording of job rejection emails/ letters was a particular focus, something I feel still holds strong relevance now.
The way we talk about ourselves and our internal monologue greatly reflects and affects the way we see ourselves - something I have particularly learned during counselling sessions in the past.
