This is great news, I totally agree about the broadcasters. I think they could have done a bit more during covid too. I appreciate market forces are what they are. However often with the budgetary and scheduling pressures that go hand in hand with most commissions these days, the freelancers who make the shows are often expected to put almost everything aside to get the job done. It would be nice if that loyalty and commitment were more of a two-way street. Communication would certainly help.

This is our tuppence worth. In short we think key stakeholders like Bectu, Pact & Ofcom should get together with the Broadcasters to try and work out how there can be a more coordinated, strategic approach to managing the work ecology. This boom/bust, feast/famine scenario is so destructive for Freelancers and Indies alike.
