For my fellow filmmakers seeing this I have an important PSA for you all: Don't use small portable mechanical hard drives for offloading footage. They are cheap but they are not built for sustained usage, which is what will happen when the poor sap you've put on data wrangling duties has to use them.
Because they're small consumer drives they will overheat if used for hours. And if they overheat it will slow down to a crawl, which will lead to longer transfer times and worse performance. If you push them too much the entire drive will fail leading to total or partial data loss, which might jeopardise your project and budget.
So, while those rugged little things seem appealing it'll add hours onto each day and could jeopardise your entire project if you push them too much.
