@OllyLambert Brilliant Doc, Olly. Easily the most evocative coverage I've seen from the frontline! Wondering what gear was used to film due to the limitations (I'm guessing something fairly discrete?!)

Agreed @GarethShoulder @JamesMorgan I have been thinking about the film all day today. It really impacted. As a sponsor of a Ukrainian family here I thought I had some inkling of the hardship. However seeing the daily lives of those on the frontline brought a whole new perspective. @OllyLambert - I've been a long admirer of your work but this deserves special commendation. Thankyou from me too for making it.

Thanks for the kind comments, the response to this has been really heartening, if almost slightly overwhelming - but in a good way!
Regarding gear - I took my own FS7 and a set of primes, but given the nature of the actuality I was usually using a 24-105 Canon zoom. Just used primes for the interview setups, most of which we dropped in the edit anyway. Those Rode 2 radio mics were great - I had my own Sennheiser AVX's, but the latency was annoying, and BBC Stores gave me a couple of those...

... Rode 2 radio mics, which were great for just sticking on people. I often had four mic channels going - top mic, wireless boom with K6/ME66 and a butt plug transmitter, then the two Rodes. Then used that little hot shoe box to give the FS7 an extra two inputs.
For the more frontline stuff, i often switched to the backup camera which was a small DSLR, honestly canot remember the model. It was pretty rubbish and overheated a lot, but was pretty agile and small

Also took four GoPros (came back with two obvs), and a shed load of mounts that I was sticking on everything that moved. So much of it useless, but it gave me the key moment in the car with Hummer when he learns that Lys had messed up the mortar correction to explain the argument, and that lovely moment from Lys when he does a kind of piece to camera beore launching the drone.

TBH the equipment side of this was one of the most challenging elements of the film. Just keepings things functional and charged when there so much running around, and ensuring I had everything I needed while also travelling light - it absolutely did my head in...
