It was an immense privilege to produce ‘My Dead Body’ (with 141 Productions) - a documentary about Toni Crews, a young mother who donated her body for public dissection.

From the beginning, we all felt a huge responsibility towards Toni’s family – especially as her children are still so young – and were clear that we didn’t want this to be a ‘shock doc’. Instead, what we settled on is a film that weaves together the ground-breaking dissections at Brighton and Sussex Medical School with the story of Toni’s life and her cancer diagnosis. We also worked with the AI company Respeecher to recreate Toni’s voice so she could narrate her own story (with words taken from her diary and social media posts). This was something of a gamble; very few filmmakers have done this before so we had no idea whether it would work.

I worked with the super talented director Sophie Robinson and an amazing team (including DOP Bud Gallimore; Editor Matt Lowe; Composer @NickNorton-Smith; Sound Recordists: David Briggs, @AjButterworth, Stephen Hodge).
