‘Angels of the North’ is back for series four on BBC3 and I Player from today.
The show follows the lives of the owners and staff at Longlox hair salon in Gateshead and Pure Ink tattoo and piercing studio in Newcastle.
Unlike the now ubiquitous constructed reality approach “Angels’ is much more Ob Doc in its approach providing a real insight into the lives of young people making their way in the North East.
Having worked as a Series Director on a multitude of constructed reality projects in recent years, Angels for me has been a refreshing, exciting introduction to working on regional projects of this nature following the stories in a more traditional, observational style.
As Series Producer I have been very lucky to work with an incredibly hard working and talented team - both during the shoot and postproduction. Hats off to everyone who has worked so hard to put the series together.
Twenty -Six 03 the production company behind ‘Angels’ produce the series from their Gateshead office. Heads of company Duncan Grey and Antonia Hurford - Jones worked tirelessly to ensure that the production team was drawn from the wealth of talent in the Northeast - this, I believe, was key to being able to truly understand the stories and lives of the characters on screen.
