The series I have been producing and directing about the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 starts on Monday at 9.00 pm on Channel 5. It's been the best part of a year in the making and I'm keen to hear what people think of it. We decided to take a different approach to the many previous documentaries that have been made on the subject by telling the story from the perspective of the relatives of the missing. It gave us the ability to chart each step of the investigation, the search for the plane and the numerous false alarms plus the multitude of conspiracy theories through the families eyes.

It was quite a tough series to make due to the sensitivity of the subject as well as the reluctance of investigators and search experts to talk about not finding anything. We also had a tough time interviewing people as many of the countries where our interviewees were based were in lockdown due to the Pandemic. It meant many long nights spent by myself and the team (PD's Simon Dales and Claire Forsyth plus story producers Steve Tappin and Anabel Fairclough) doing interviews via Zoom with people in Malaysia, Australia, Japan, China, Cambodia and America. The first episode on Monday is called, 'The Vanishing' and covers the first few weeks from the moment the plane disappeared until the relatives discover their loved ones will not be coming home.
