To conquer my fears of filmmaking and using a skatepark, I applied for funding from an organisation called the Active Travel Academy to produce, shoot and edit a documentary exploring the experiences of a diverse set of people who live in London as they attempt to use public space for roller skating.Rolling places aims to challenge the way traditional academy research is conducted and shared by using audio visual methods to open up the conversation and invite more diverse voices into the research space. As my first attempt bridging the gap between my work as a design researcher for public services and documentary filmmaking it was an incredible experience.
