ITV, Sky and sports indie Whisper Films have each agreed to pay staff bonuses to help them cope with the rocketing cost of living.

Around 4,000 ITV staff earning £75,000 or less, including those at ITV Studios companies, will receive two £1,000 payments to help meet rising energy costs and the rising price of food and other goods – first this month, then in January. A company-wide pay increase is also due to be implemented in the New Year.

It has also confirmed that it will honour the upcoming recommended ‘living wage rate’, a cross-sector initiative due to be unveiled by the Living Wage Foundation next week.

Meanwhile, 70% of Sky’s UK and Ireland staff will each be paid £1000 across two instalments in October and January – at a cost to the broadcaster of around £20m.

Staff at Whisper Films earning less than £50,000 will also receive two sums in September and January based on 1.5% of their annual salary.
