Duck Soup films co-founder Jessica Brown Meek has resurfaced at fellow Leeds indie Candour Productions.

Brown Meek has been named co-head of production at the factual indie in a job-share with Ali Lycett, who currently holds the role.

Duck Soup, which Brown Meek founded with Libby Durdy and Bekki Wray-Rogers, closed after a decade in business last November due to challenging economic conditions.

Though best known for working in scripted – including Warp Films’ This is England series for Channel 4 and BBC1’s Lost Boys & Fairies at Duck Soup – Jessica’s career spans children’s programming, documentaries, factual entertainment and feature films.

Candour chief content officer Anna Hall said: “Jess has been a friend to many of us for years, and we admired all that Duck Soup achieved from across the other side of the city.

“At Candour we are truly committed to providing flexibility for our staff and we believe that job sharing works. Ali has built an incredible team over the last five years and Jess’s experience will only strengthen that and help us to be more resilient as we move forward in our growth.”

Brown Meek said Candour is “a company with real heart and a genuine vision, making brilliant and important work”.
