Universal International Studios is to train up eight emerging cinematographers on a new year-long scheme.
The Future Cinematographers Programme will offer workshops, hands-on-training, shadow experience and mentorship.
UIS teamed up with Hatch Films, a non-profit producer specialising in opening access for training underrepresented and working class creatives to work in film, TV and branded content, for the scheme.
It aims to equip participants with the skills to potentially secure work on UK productions from NBCU companies and trainees can pursue paid work on current productions.
One of the inaugural cohort, Arushi Chugh, will shadow cinematographer David Rom on series three of Heyday Television and UIS’ BBC drama The Capture.
The production also houses six trainees via a separate ScreenSkills partnership and a director supported by Directors UK.
The other seven trainees on the Future Cinematographers Programme are Toufique Ali, Sabina Claici, Ash Connaughton, Joshua Ighodaro, Ricardo McLeary-Campbell, Louise Murphy, and Mari Yamamura.
