A trio of podcast production labels have merged to create a content ‘supergroup’.
Platform Media, Listen Entertainment and Goldhawk Productions will collectively come under the Platform Media umbrella.
Based in Farringdon, London, the expanded company employs around 80 staff and reported 70% growth in revenues in the past year.
Parent company PodX already owned a majority stake in all three labels and now owns all three outright, creating a combined company offering branded entertainment, marketing and monetisation, with the individual labels continuing to produce their own content.
The expanded Platform will be run by existing chief executive Matthew Sherry and Listen managing director Josh Adley, who become co-chief executives.
Platform already owns Folding Pocket, which produces sports podcasts such as The Good, The Bad & The Rugby as well as comedy podcast Making a Scene with David Walliams and Matt Lucas.
Listen’s output includes Disney’s Rivals: The Official Podcast, the BBC’s visual podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked, ITV’s Love Island: The Morning After, and So Wrong It’s Right with Olivia Attwood.
Goldhawk specialises in fiction and factual audio storytelling with A-list talent, including BBC drama Central Intelligence, with Kim Cattrall, and Audible’s The Strange Case starring Vanessa Kirby.
“There are seismic shifts happening in the podcast industry right now,” said Sherry. “We’ve pioneered a unique monetisation model that is leading the industry forward. This merger is the natural next step, and we’re ready to make a lasting impact.”
