The Grierson Trust has banned an individual from any of its events for a decade, following reported anti-Jewish racism and antisocial behaviour at its annual awards ceremony.

The documentary organisation launched an inquiry earlier this month after receiving complaints of anti-Semitic behaviour by an attendee of a reception following this year’s awards on 9 November.

In a statement issued today, the Trust said it had imposed a ban on the unnamed individual attending future awards and any other events it will organise within the next 10 years.

“The Grierson Trust is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the documentary industry, and to providing a safe space for everyone at our events and programmes,” it stated. “We have a zero tolerance approach to racism of all kinds.”

When it launched its investigation, the Trust invited anyone experiencing or witnessing racism to report it by contacting www.report-it.org.uk and regarding anti-semitic abuse specifically to email incidents@cst.org.uk
