Associate Producer - News

    We are looking for an associate producer for the main newsroom. You have a clear understanding of what makes a story worthy of being covered by our News channel. You've successfully flourished a team environments demonstrating expertise in the news and documentary field.

    The Role + You

    This is not a field position -- the Associate Producers primary job is to support research, production, and post-production. There will be field opportunities for APs who have shown a solid command of their responsibilities inside the newsroom.

    Do you like to to pick up the phone and chase information? Keep reading, we want to talk to you. You understand the fundamentals of news-gathering. You are a clear writer comfortable managing information and dispersing it to groups of people within the broader organization. APs are called on to generate reports from their desks, as well as helping to design and distribute shoot and post-production schedules. The levels of responsibility increase including opportunities to produce stories from start to finish for AP's who excel in these areas. Associate Producers work longer hours and weekends.


    You have these:
    Share your portfolio and/or links to samples of your work; as is a resume and professional references are needed
    A minimum of 1 year experience in broadcast news, documentary film, or other digital media production, or a similar level of experience in print or digital journalism
    You are fluent with the mechanics of production in the bureau: how to book crews, request gear, request edit time; how to plan for back-to-base logistics of deployments (coordinating between the field team and the post team); how to support edits and ultimately lead edits; how to deliver a piece for air.
    Conduct in-depth research
    Pitching stories, booking interview subjects, and assisting in the production of stories through shoot, scripting, and post
    Effective APs may qualify for opportunities to produce segments on their own
    Producing graphics internal to pieces
    Research and clear archival footage, and music.
    Maintaining shoot releases and other necessary paperwork
    Maintaining post-production schedules
