About Us

With over twenty years in the television industry in both Australia and the UK, 
creator/writer/producer/director, Lucy Goodman formed HAPPY FILMS Ltd to produce stand-out quality children's and family media with heart. 

Recently nominated for 5 daytime Emmys in the US, BOOKABOO, a mixed media show was created by Goodman for Happy Films. Featuring celebrities and a world-famous drum playing rock puppy who can't play without a story a day, BOOKABOO is a literacy campaign disguised as an entertainment show. It subtly encourages children and parents to share books together, known as the most powerful determinant of children’s literacy skills. The first two seasons for CiTV UK won two BAFTAs and the International Prix Jeunesse, the Broadcast Award and many more. A further two seasons were co-produced with CBC Canada with the most recent (Season 4) launching the show in the US, Germany and Japan as an Amazon Studios Original. Celebrities to date have included actors such as Michael Sheen, Selma Blair, rock and pop stars such as Meat Loaf , Mel C and Paula Abdul and sports stars such as ex-England goalie David Seaman and NFL's Antonio Brown. 

Bookaboo is responsible for just under 100,000 books being donated to disadvantaged children through its partnership with charities such as First Book Canada, First Book US, Booktrust UK and the Pre-School Learning Alliance UK.

HAPPY FILMS currently has broad genre variety of 8 children’s and family shows on its production slate including drama, entertainment and a family feature film.

Goodman's track record includes making shows for BBC, BBC Schools, ITV, Disney, Nickelodeon, Pearson Education and Amazon Studios. 

Goodman is creative, tenacious and a production value perfectionist, which aside from her output has led to the growth of a dedicated team of extremely talented individuals that she loves to work with again and again.
