I oversee and develop a wide range of history formats, from access-based films and living history projects to box-set series and 90-minute specials, that appeal to specific audiences. I am involved in the entire development process of sourcing research, gaining with collaborators, writing pitches and treatments before presenting my ideas at commissioning meeting. I have a proud record of developing ideas with reputable history talent including Lucy Worsley, Alice Roberts and Helen Castor. My work places great emphasis on rich content, diligent research and immersive approaches to fascinating stories through the ages.My philosophy is that history programming has huge potential to inspire audiences. Whether it be through ancient civilisations or the 21st century, history should be entertaining, escapist, through-provoking and capable of allowing us to reflect on who are in the modern world today. As the figurehead of What Larks' Diversity Confident Committed initiative, I am proud to say that I am on the autistic spectrum. Rather than allow my condition to shackle me, I harness my autistic characteristics through my work. By thinking slightly differently to other people, I am able to approach TV development in a highly analytical, imaginative way with a keen eye for innovative concepts.
