I have worked in the Sound Dept for quite a few years,starting off with 16mm film and progressing through the arrival of video tape now onto solid state media and sound recording digitally. Initially I began working in documentaries and progressed through to working in Light Entertainment on shows such as The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent,supervising and designing the main studio/arena sound systems and also providing the sound infrastructure for the reality components of these large shows , writing and advising on the production bible provided to foreign broadcasters producing their version of the format. I have a specialism in aviation related programmes and I am a qualified aircraft pilot.I've worked in environments ranging from hot deserts to the cold of the arctic and I'm fully hostile environment trained having been engaged on many assignments ranging from gold mining in the jungles of Africa,to being embedded with the forward infantry for the BBC under fire in the second Gulf War. I'm equally at home in a mass channel count concert recording situation with complex radio infrastructure managing a large sound team or in a small crew with a shoulder hung documentary sound recording kit.
