During my time studying wildlife conservation at UWE, I made a short film with some of my fellow students about the Blue Campaign, a grassroots rewilding organisation, in which I narrated and conducted the interview. While making this film, I learned about several elements of filmmaking, including pitching the initial idea, research, camera operating and editing. You can watch this film here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-gfO-JsIRU5NkhGY2l6RU9sRWs/view?usp=drive_webFollowing my time at university, I secured two weeks work experience working on Chasing Ocean Giants with producer James Reed, where I developed my research skills further, assisting the research and production team with any tasks that needed doing, including archive research, fact checking and time coding scripts, and finding stories that could be used in a 2nd series. I took the time last year to film and edit a short film with diversity and environmental campaigner Mya-Rose ‘Birdgirl’ Craig, about how young people can engage themselves to make a difference in the world through activism and campaigning. This film is currently on her YouTube channel and can be viewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rNw1TFckQE. I often spend time developing series concepts, with a view to making them at some point in the future, I would be happy to share these for you to look at. I’ve recently finished working on a project with Filmmakers for Future:Wildlife, making short films for the COP26 conference, where I initially helped with story development on a couple of potential stories. I also carried out research around the stories that were chosen and on the members of the discussion panel that followed the screening of these films. In my spare time, I like to indulge my love for photography and nature by going birdwatching or finding the smaller wildlife in my wild garden. I am also a keen sportsman, captaining the 2nd team of my cricket club, a job that requires a lot of organisational skills, also helping me hone my leadership and decision making skills, often having to find creative solutions, whilst thriving under the pressure that accompanies the position.I am passionate and hard working, throwing myself fully into every challenge that comes my way, it would be great to have the opportunity to put my skills and experience to use in a meaningful way. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to discussing my application further.
