Before my current role in talent and resourcing I was a production coordinator for around 7+ years at the BBC.
I have worked on various productions including BBC Watchdog, Panorama, The One Show and BBC Science.
I have experience in Scheduling and budgets and enjoy creating create working relationships with both team members and clients.
I love enabling productions to create their ‘vision’ (or audio in this case) in a safe and budget friendly way.
I have good experience in Copyright (music and Archive) and Post Production. I am used to fast turn around and Large/small budgets for Full series/VT items.
I have worked on live TX’s and enjoy talking on the phone. I love problem solving and having to manage changing circumstances. Working on production like Panorama you have to deal with ever changing circumstances and learn to prioritise both your workload and your teams wellbeing and wishes.
I have worked on most of my roles from end to end of the production. This has of course meant that I have needed to negotiate and manage budgets.
I love troubleshooting and finding new ways of working that can be most cost effective and safe. I enjoy forming work relationships in various environments and I like to think I have a calm but efficient approach to working...even when things are tough.
During my 3 years as a PC on Panorama I worked on 3 undercover films (2 of which have won RTA and BAFTA awards). Working within such strict, covert and often high risk areas has been a fantastic learning curve for me. Making sure that productions like this are run safely is a skill I apply to all of my projects, no matter how big or small.
Working on projects in extreme locations (Panorama: Aleppo, Life under Siege) and the experience of waiting for court cases and story developments mid production has been a real skills test, being reactionary is key but not always budget friendly.
Changing a whole filming schedule the day before filming is a test of patience and people skills that I have used in many of my career opportunities.
Working on these 'odd ball' productions also requires lots of negotiation skills and interesting contracting. I have worked closely with Insurance and business affairs when doing this. I have also had to manage various members of the team from eager, junior individuals to undercover operatives who are new to the world of TV. Maintaining a supportive, friendly yet firm relationship with runners and Production Management Assistants is something I enjoy doing. I love helping people.
There’s a pastoral element to this role too that I very much enjoy. I enjoy people. I enjoy helping people.
