My two greatest passions are the creative arts, especially filmmaking, and Russian culture. After studying the latter for four years and especially during the year spent in Russia, I decided I wanted to tell the story not only of the country but most importantly of its people, who carried within them gems of past experiences. That is why I chose to study documentary production, so as to combine my fascination with people's stories with the creative industry while also giving full scope to my wider interests in history, politics and other regions in the world. The MA in Documentary Production gave me first hand practical experience of how film production works, from research to post production, while also focusing on storytelling and using it as a means to deliver compelling content. My most distinctive skill is the ability to connect with people on an emphatic level to draw out their personal stories and deliver them effectively to an audience. This is reflected in my MA final project, a short documentary about a British man who went to Rojava, in Syria, to fight against ISIS. I now look forward to the challenge of applying my skills and passions and gaining wider work experience in the creative industry. Read Less
