I have over ten years of experience and have worked on shows for ABC News & Docs, Al Jazeera America, TLC, MTV, Discovery and others as a producer/shooter, DP, camera op and Field Producer.I cut my teeth as a video journalist for New York Times television--strictly one-man band style. On my first job I once had to follow a character to the train station, film her saying good-bye to her family, release the family members who came to say goodbye (and there were like eight of them) and then get on the train with her. No PA, no AP, no sound person--that's just the way it was. Because of those early experiences when things get hairy in the field--and they always do--I don't get flustered.Beyond that I am always thinking about story. Since I also work in post I know what is needed in the edit and I know how to get in the field. I always make it a point when possible to speak with the editor on whatever project I am working on because their feedback is invaluable to me as the person in the field. I pride myself on the fact that I have had more than one editor say that they have everything they need for the edit.I am also an independent documentary filmmaker. My latest project is a feature-length doc shot in India about a marriage counseling center that is run by the local police and staffed by women police officers.
