Rob Dean is simply as good as they come when producing long-running, low cost, high volume quiz shows. He has steered the success of my programme, Eggheads, for nearly 15 years coping with the transition from London production to Glasgow production, the introduction of a second host, the eventual departure of the original host and the recruitment of new ‘Eggheads’. No matter what was thrown at Rob he always found a way of making it a success, ensuring his team were as happy as any production team could be and the quality and ratings never suffered. 1870 episodes is no mean feet. Eggheads is Rob’s show and he has nurtured it, protected it and enabled 12 Yard productions, and latterly ITV, to use it as the foundation of building one of the most successful quiz companies in the business. I couldn’t recommend Rob more highly but appreciate that after so many years at the helm it is time for him to seek a new challenge. Whoever is lucky enough to entice Rob into their organisation know they are getting, not only one of the leading show runners in their field but one of the most decent, upstanding and reliable people you could ever work with, in an industry where those qualities are few and far between.
