New Channel 4 observational documentary series following the work of the Devon and Cornwall Police and its control room.
Worked in partnership with one of the directors to support him and the production in a multifaceted manner:
Was tasked with creating highly detailed logs of all the shooting carried out by the director, thinking both editorially and in terms of compliance to prioritise information and highlight key moments. This necessitated extreme focus and multitasking when following numerous different storylines and conversations in the police control room, as well as the need to be forward thinking in order to get all the vital information needed for the edit and compliance producers.
While access had been gained to the control room as a whole, individual access with the control room staff had to be gained while on location and was a large part of my role. Building relationships and rapport with the staff members, maintaining relationships with a large amount of contributors throughout the shoot, being aware of the sensitivities of the control room and consenting individuals (using RIMMs).
Acted as strong technical support for the room with a complex sound rig. Worked with (and stood in for) the APs to set up mic plans, making logistical and editorial judgements when prioritising microphones and audio equipment between different desks and contributors. Operated as a camera assistance for the Director, handling and setting up the camera (FS7), managing batteries, handling and swapping lenses, as well as shooting GVs and actuality on numerous occasions.
