Read MoreI have over 20 years professional experience as an editor, director, producer & writer, working across broadcast, commercials and corporate. I originally started as an offline & online editor for broadcast, commercials and films, specializing in promos & trailers. I then moved into directing & producing campaign films - heading up several boutique digital agencies and running 2 production companies.
Since 2012 I’ve returned to broadcast on a full-time freelance basis. I’m extremely creative with a wealth of experience. I have a truly unique skill set - I direct, edit, produce, write and can even compose music. I have an excellent understanding of narrative and technique. I’ve cut numerous archive, arts, clip, comedy, cooking, documentary, fixed rig, multicam, shiny floor, studio and reality shows along with hundreds of VTs. I have a thorough technical understanding of post workflows coupled with genuine creative flair. With a commercials & trailer background I'm particularly adept at pre-titles & promos and have a real feel for sound design.
Having had over 26 years experience working as a comedy writer and stand-up comic, I'm extremely confident in writing and honing VO scripts. Often employed to develop series style & tone, also to re-write & re-work comms and edits. I'm able to break down complicated concepts into entertaining, understandable and when needed humourous pieces.
These days I'm predominately employed as a Senior Editor - combining the roles of Finishing Editor, Edit Producer and Writer. I can quickly identify and fix narrative problems. Often by reworking cuts I can make shows clearer and punchier, so they hit with maximum impact. I’m adept at addressing channel notes or ensuring there are minimal notes in the first place. I make the big, bigger, the funny, funnier and the emotional even more emotive. In short, I make stories stronger and have a proven track record of 'fixing it in post'. Equally happy starting from scratch as I am stitching and polising a final cut.
I work really well on my own and have strong editorial judgement, making decisive creative decisions quickly. I can sniff out a story and see the wood for the trees amongst a mountain of footage. With a clear brief, I'm able to craft together any narrative necessary, conjuring up incisive cuts and supplying satisfying sequences. I also love collaborating and working as part of a team - nothing excites me more than bouncing around the edit suite on the space hopper of ideas.
