It's a pleasure to be able to talk about Mattie. He is one of the most ambitious and creative producers I've worked with. He really knows what gets his audience talking and how to layer up ideas to turn a topic into something special and agenda-setting. He quickly gains the trust of talent, meaning he can persuade them to get naked, bare their soul or put on a silly outfit for the show. He persuaded Janet Street-Porter to wear a hotdog costume...what more do I need to tell you?!

He thinks big - so I often put him in charge of our big specials - and really gets the voice of the presenters, an essential when scripting for our anchors - but is great at writing snappy, attention-grabbing teases to keep viewers hooked to the end of the show. He rose through the ranks very quickly at Loose Women, so he has had to learn team management on the job, with all the challenges that brings when you are managing a young team but are young yourself. However, I think in the last 12 months he has really grown into a great manager and inspiring leader - particularly with his move from Loose Women to the juggernaut that is This Morning. When I was without a deputy for around six months, I really relied on Mattie to step up which he embraced and ran with.
