In summer of 2012, I was hired to be a radio assistant for RUV, The Icelandic National Broadcast Service. The job included working closely with the reporters and make sure they had their news articles ready on time for the radio news hour. I then worked with both the radio news reporter and the technicians to make sure that the news hour went smoothly. It was often times a difficult job and I had no prior experience but I never hesitated when offered this challenge. I learned how to be punctual and work under pressure, something that I have worked on since. In the summer of 2017, I got a summer job as a newly graduated journalist. I started working for Morgunblaðið newspaper (The Morning Paper), the longest running and one of the most respected newspaper in Iceland. I was thrown into the deep end, and right from the start I took part in meetings with more experienced journalists and editors, I conducted various interviews with MP‘s at the parliament, the Icelandic prime minister and many other high profile people. I never said no to any job. In January 2018, Morgunblaðið called me and offered me a freelance journalist position.
In between those two jobs, I had various others in the media. In 2013 I wrote articles for the web version of an Icelandic women‘s magazine called Bleikt (meaning Pink), I wrote news for two news websites, Frettastofa.is and Landposturinn.is. During my B.A studies in media and communications, I worked one day for the television station N4 and did one report for the radio channel, Channel 1, which I did from scratch, conducted the interview, did all the editing and made sure it was ready for the news. In the UK I wrote for the news website Blasting News, and have recently been accepted as an intern for Keep Fit Kingdom were I will be writing as a freelance journalist. During my postgraduate studies here in the UK, I've written a 90-page script for a film called The Demons Within. I also wrote scripts for two short films that were produced, one called Three Minutes and the other called A Diamond in the Rust. I am currently working on my first book that is being proofread in the United States.I am a hard worker and make it a rule to challenge myself as much as I can, for it is the only way I believe one can really learn. I always make sure I am on time, I work well in a group and my previous work experience has taught me how to deal with various issues that may come up. I am a fast writer, which always comes in handy. I speak, read and write English and Icelandic fluently, and I can also read Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Faroese fairly well, although I cannot speak nor write those languages.
