Being self-taught I created opportunities for myself by acting as a one-man crew filming and editing corporate events, live gigs and music videos for free in order to build a decent portfolio, and this eventually lead me to landing a job working as a producer of live interactive TV at the age of 21. While working in TV I honed my skills in directing by making music videos on the side in order to keep my creative juices flowing, and after a long time of generic programming, I eventually left TV in order to focus on my creativity by making content for the music industry. After working with various artists, I eventually met an upcoming rapper called Nadia Rose and proposed to her the idea of putting together a visual campaign to build her profile via social media. Taking the managing skills I learnt from TV I put together a 6 month plan in which we would shoot 3 music videos, releasing one every 2 months, and in between each release we would post picture and video content of Nadia active at shows, working in the studio, and interacting with fans. When we released the first video online it went viral on Twitter, to which the next one was requested by Jamel Edwards to go on his YouTube channel SBTV. That video also went viral, giving me my first ever 1 million+ views for a piece of my work. By the time we released the final video Nadia was signed to Relentless Records, Sony Music without the official release of a single or EP.I then went from a self-shooter to working with a crew, and made my first video under a label for Nadia’s first single release, which went on to win an award for Best Music Video at the MOBO Awards in 2016. With this new found recognition I went on to make content for Ministry of Sound and Columbia Records, with 3 of those videos making video of the week on the likes of MTV Base and MTV Dance. This lead me to working all over the world shooting videos in Morocco, Sierra Leone and Brazil to name a few, as well as an interview on BBC Radio, and racking up a total of 15 million+ views across all my work on YouTube.Since then I have been mentoring young people in making video content and juggling short film and narrative projects. I made a short film on knife crime as part of a community project in my local area, and produced a short film that was picked up by Channel 4’s Random Acts. And right now, I’m transitioning into a new stage of my career developing projects with the aim to be directing feature films and other narratives in the not too distant future.
