There are always a million reasons to think something won't work. If you want it to, I invite you to start the conversation. I’m a dual Canadian/British citizen who lives for producing great television and embracing adventure travel, sailing, motorcycles, dog sledding, photography, guitars and cooking good food. Be bold, reach out!

As Series Producer of YOU GOTTA EAT HERE! featuring host and improvisational comic John Catucci, I was recognized in 2014, 2015 & 2017 with a nomination and two wins of a Canadian Screen Award [CSA] as "Best Lifestyle Program or Series." among many previous awards.

I have worked with and directed novice on-camera talent, many factual/lifestyle celebrities, and some of the biggest names in the industry; think Jim Henson [Muppet fame], Lorne Greene [Bonanza/Battlestar Galactica, Jerry O’Connell [Stand By Me/Sliders/Carter], as well as American-Canadian middleweight boxer Reuben "The Hurricane" Carter who was wrongfully convicted of murder and later released following public outcry.

Over the years and many productions, my role as either an executive producer, series producer, or post-producer has meant liaising with network executives and location stakeholders, contributing to all budgeting, researching, writing, casting, scheduling and on-set supervision. I have designed and determined shooting styles, directed when required, supervised multiple offline edits, colour grading, audio mix, online packaging, mastering and written network press kits.

I bring a comprehensive understanding of North American and international sensibilities to broadcasting having shot across Canada, the USA, England, Ireland, and Italy. Our programs have successfully aired on the Good Food Channel & DAVE in the UK - FOOD, HGTV & BIO in the USA - Discovery & Lifetime [A&E] Asia, and Nat Geo in Italy.

I’m comfortable producing and directing in the studio, field, and operating as a shooting producer/director. I’m most familiar with the CANON C300 & SONY a7iii, and am a quick study who can readily apply my cinematography knowledge to other cameras. From the post world, I am fluent in Premiere Pro CC, AVID, & Final Cut Pro X.

I am loyal and consistantly deliver projects that run multiple seasons. I believe if you keep an open mind and embrace going places that test your comfort level, remarkable results follow.

Best, Steven Read Less

I can say without hesitation that Steven Mitchell is the best senior producer I've ever worked with! He's creative, strategic, client focused and just so all-around great. Steven made You Gotta Eat Here! the hit show it is today.

Holly Gillanders, Former Production Executive for Shaw/Corus

I worked with Steven for five very successful seasons of our Food Network Canada series, You Gotta Eat Here!. Steven came on board as series producer on season 1, and continued in that role for the run of the series - 150 episodes. The fact that the show was so long running is a testament to Steven's skills as a producer. He oversaw all elements of the series, from pre-production research to production and post. I would not hesitate to recommend Steven, or to work with him again.

Rachel Horvath

Steven and I have worked on many projects together, and I would absolutely recommend him. He is passionate, prepared, and enthusiastic about making great content. He deeply understands the production process, which makes him such a successful Producer. I've always admired his ability to get the job done no matter what roadblocks we had in front of us. I'd gladly bring him on to my team!
