My name is Hazel DeAyr, and I am a Sound Assistant/Floor Sound Operator/Radio Mic Runner/Live Sound Engineer. I live in Glasgow, originally from London, and happy to go wherever else my career will take me. I currently freelance as a Sound Assistant in L.E and Sports OBs for CBeebies, BBCthree, Channel 4,and Sky, also as Floor Sound at Media City for Dock10 and ITV. Most recently I have been a 2nd Sound Assistant as part of the UK Sound Crew for a Bollywood Film. I also have 17 years experience working Front of House (Sound mixing) and Backstage (Radio running/sound related tech support for orchestra and crew) in Musical Theatre as a Live Sound Engineer in HoD, Deputy and Assistant roles (Sound No.1, No.2, No.3, Dep/Temp), working in the West End, and touring nationally and internationally. My greatest achievements are being thrown in at the deep end, last minute, on a Bollywood film for the first time, being surrounded by a high profile award winning cast and crew, and keeping up with the high speed pace of work, whilst trying to keep on top of what was happening as most instructions were given in Hindi, which I do not speak or understand! Also, starting a job in a new country, not knowing anybody, and beating a record whilst suffering horrendous food poisoning! I had a great experience working abroad on an OB last year, where I feel I slotted in with the whole production really well, and genuinely enjoyed connecting with the participants and helping their experience be as postitive, exciting and fun as could be, whilst doing my job to the highest standard I could achieve.
