Experienced
(15+ years) Glasgow based (editorial and edit) Producer working acros
s multiple platforms with strong editorial judgement, who can
identify compelling stories, set up and get to the heart of complex narratives, at speed.
I have experience primarily in
documentary, factual entertainment and
specialist factual (history/ science). I’ve typically been offered ‘first of their kind’ projects, challenging ground-breaking docs, or the first series of new formats.
My successful track record as a
development producer, allows me to
dissect topics, and
find perspectives to shed new light.
I’ve devised/executed filming world-wide (Europe, S&N America, Africa and Asia), often
gaining access to hard won institutions (Merchant Navy, NASA, FBI, courts, police etc) and cast
memorable on-screen experts and participants, celebrities and ordinary people caught up in life changing events, for a range of genres.
Extremely hard working and a
born problem solver, I bring imagination, tenacity, and positivity to every project I take on.
My recent
documentary credit highlights include:
“Belfast Midwives” 6 x 30 for C4, and “
Stolen: Catching the Art Thieves” 3 x 60 (global art heist caper) for BBC2, both of which involved sensitive handing of vulnerable contributors (stillborn parents/ victims of crime). I hold contributor welfare paramount and, as well as being across consent and compliance issues.
I’ve sourced and cleared extensive
archive material, and have much experience of setting up historically accurate
dramatic reconstructions, and
complex demonstrations. I'm adept at
developing and producing for
quick turnaround scenarios and longer form.
I have a lot of experience of teasing out
first-person testimony, and
shaping complex timelines and narratives. I was central in shaping the storylines of "Stolen: Catching the Art Thives" and driving the narrative of “The Secret History of The Streets”, Duke St Glasgow episode, and in the development of “Murder in a Small Town” (Luke Mitchell/ Jodi Jones case) for C5.
My
specialist factual / science credits include:
Nine award winning and highly rating science one-offs and series (mostly BBC Science).
Including,
“Horizon: E-Cigarettes, Miracle or Menace” (BBC Two) and
"The Secret Life of Landfill" (BBC Four).
I’m comfortable
sourcing cutting edge science stories which drive forth narratives,
creating robust beat sheets, casting large numbers of participants, and seeking partnerships with a range of institutions
to deliver impactful sequences.
In terms of
factual entertainment:
I'm
talented at negotiating and maintaining access and
building strong relationships, most recently I bonded with high wealth organisations / individuals on “Amazing Hotels” and "Alan Cumming's Paradise Homes".
Wrangling schedules is my jam, I've produced more
travelogue/ road trip one-offs and series than
most people have had hot dinners. I’m
super skilled at managing top talent (Rob Rinder, Monica Galetti, Joel Dommett, Julia Bradbury, Griff Rhys Jones, Hugh Dennis etc),
securing stories and developing dynamic sequences eg:
• “Amazing Hotels” for BBC Two, Series 5 & 6 – 4 x 60, Scotland, Italian Alps, Africa, Langkawi.
• “Alan Cummings Paradise Homes", for Discovery+ - 6 x 30 Canada, USA, UK, Europe.
• “Great British Car Journeys” S1&2 for C4 – 3 x 60, Christopher Timothy & Peter Davison, UK only.
• “The Pubs that Built Britain” BBC Two – with The Hairy Bikers, Uk only.
I have also dabbled in
children’s television and
topical / current affairs. Read Less
