About Me

Director of Development | Development Exec | Senior Producer and experienced documentary maker. More recently Emma developed and secured a three part boxset true crime series THE RUSSELL MURDERS: WHO KILLED LIN AND MEGAN? for Sky Documentaries and developed a three part documentary series with Circle Circle Films for ITVX THE OTHER MRS JORDAN: CATCHING THE ULTIMATE CONMAN a real-time manhunt for Will Jordan – a US born serial bigamist, sexual predator and pathological liar whose crimes span the UK and the US.

Other development highlights include the award-winning six part series HOSPITAL for BBC Two, a three part series MEET THE DRUGLORDS: INSIDE THE REAL NARCOS for C4 (and now on Netflix) fronted by former Special Forces soldier Jason Fox, a character driven four part documentary series LAST CHANCE LAWYER NYC about a maverick Brooklyn defence attorny which Emma developed and exec produced for BBC Two, A VERY BRITISH HOTEL for C4, the lockdown series for ITV - LONDON ZOO: AN EXTRAORDINARY YEAR, which she also co-executive produced.

Experienced at series ideas generator and her forte is development from seed to sizzle, right through into production. Excellent at finding strong narratives, alternative 'ways in', engaging characters and writing pitch decks which show how to shape the series in tone, content and style. Proven experience in negotiating sensitive access and finding precincts with story engines, together with a strong production experience.

Calm, organised and clear headed but with a gentle manner, Emma is a strong trusted head of development and exec, both journalistically and editorially. She has headed up large development slates for successful indies and won a raft of commissions, cut sizzles and tasters, and Exec Produced several of her own developments. She deep dives into ideas, working quickly and effectively - whether it's finding active narratives, fantastic characters or accessing sensitive institutions.

Areas of access and expertise: US/UK prisons, true crime, hospitals, drugs/cartels, high-end holidays, US courts, mental health, Fact Ent social experiment propositions as well as sensitive personal stories or compelling character led ideas and previously produced films including My Child Won't Speak for BBCTwo and Baby Beauty Queens for BBCThree.
