I am particularly interested in LGBTQ+ female-centred stories and giving voices to marginalised and under-represented communities. My short play 'A' is inspired by my own experiences as a pan-romantic grey-asexual, whilst my short film 'Drip' is an experimental response to dealing with social anxiety. In 2017, my 90 second short film 'Soldiers in Petticoats' was awarded 'Best Idea' and 'Best Costume' in the young people's international film competition 'A Sense of Hope' (I wrote, directed and sourced costumes). Inspired by research into Millicent Fawcett and the suffrage movement, the short sees a young suffragette encounter the women of today who inspire her to continue the fight and never give up hope. Produced work can be viewed on my small YouTube channel: 'nafkin'.Working in a theatre as an usher means I am used to busy environments and would adapt to a runner role well. The environment has boosted my motivation to pursue my passion of telling stories. As an aspiring writer, I seize any chance to experiment and step out of the safety net. Recently I have been pushing myself in unfamiliar genres - working on a musical project as well as a screenplay for a psychological horror.Ultimately, as an entry level creative any opportunities (paid/unpaid) would be warmly welcomed so I can build contacts and gain industry experience.Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
