Kaylee Soh
Producer/ Director
About Me
I worked with Kaylee over a period of two years when I was the Executive Producer managing a team of producers at Channel News Asia. We were the international team and developed ambitious regional documentaries for series such as 'Undercover Asia'. Kaylee had come to us highly recommended - and met all expectations, and more. She took on especially challenging projects as a producer director - most notably the African episode of our series about China's 'New Silk Road'. This was a very tough shoot in Kenya and Zambia but Kaylee delivered a compelling documentary, which featured some powerful and revealing sequences. She also took on an episode of another new series we developed, the 'Asian Century'. The series examined the impact on contemporary SE Asia of pivotal moments - in this case the 'Fall of Suharto', the Indonesian dictator. Here Kaylee had to tackle a very different kind of documentary - seeking out links between past and present, and bringing the drama of the past to life. In all her projects, Kaylee demonstrated excellent visual and writing skills. In my experience, Kaylee is a strong and committed team player who, for example, enthusiastically tackled a project brought to us by a less experienced Bangladeshi producer - and made a very powerful documentary from his material. All in all, I can confidently say that Kaylee will contribute experience, creativity and commitment to many kinds of project.
