In both roles I have gained valuable insight and experience of working with all sorts of people, skills which mean I am able to form strong relationships with contributors and when necessary, convince people to give me what I need, whether it be the incredible and emotionally challenging work on BBC DIY SOS, or the shorter production lead and skill set needed on BBC’s Street Auction. I also have experience in natural history, archive, and experience of setting up and executing foreign filming in a hostile environment. I have been fortunate to be given the opportunity to stretch myself with work for BBC’s ‘Twinstitute’ which required me to quickly gain a good enough understanding of a number of scientific experiments to enable me to locate experts and equipment to demonstrate them on screen. I have also been lucky enough to work in Natural History programming within the BBC Digital team and on commissions for Disney+/National Geographic, both of which required me to get to quickly gain an understanding and knowledge of a range of animals and behaviours in order to contribute to decision making on filming locations and find suitable contacts and experts to enable that filming.
