I’m a versatile documentary producer-director specialising in quality history series on events as diverse as US presidential politics and the Manson Family, and as complex as the twenty-year US war in Afghanistan and the history of the world. I have PD and producer credits on several award-winning and record-breaking shows including CNN's Race for the White House (most popular CNN documentary at the time of broadcast), CNN's American Dynasties: The Kennedys (most popular CNN documentary series at the time of broadcast) and America: The Story of US (Emmy award-winning series with prelude by Barack Obama, and the most watched History documentary at the time of broadcast). I enjoy distilling big events with myriad interlinked narratives into digestible and compelling stories. I am as comfortable researching and structuring big ideas in development or pre-production as I am directing interview shoots with high-profile figures including US vice presidents and presidential candidates; identifying intriguing archive and using it in unexpected ways; writing and directing dramatized realisations; and bringing everything together under pressure in the cutting room.

I have also worked in scripted TV development and production alongside some of the world’s top screenwriters (Eric Jendresen – Band of Brothers; Ben Power – The Hollow Crown, The Lehman Trilogy), helping them craft dramatic narratives around the goals of compelling characters and I bring this experience to bear on every documentary project I work on. I combine this instinct for drama with a journalistic integrity that is evident in articles I’ve written for publications such as The Guardian and Politico on a variety of historical and current events.
