Later I worked as a broadcast journalist for BBC radio and TV in Newcastle before joining Tyne Tees TV as a reporter and presenter. Later I worked as a producer/director and series producer on factual programmes for network ITV and Channel 4. I also directed continuing drama series (Emmerdale and Coronation Street) and regularly wrote and directed links with presenters including Philip Schofield and Mary Nightingale. After a career break to write children's novels ("The Fabulous Four Fish Fingers" series) and teach I returned to television in 2016. Since then I have worked extensively as a location director and edit producer.
