Matt René is a London-based, multi-award winning British/Mauritian director and producer. Matt’s impressive 20-year film career has seen him transition from iconic entertainment (Big Brother) and fact ent formats (BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and MTV,) to global scripted, serialised drama. His latest show is the BAFTA winning, family drama series, Lovely Little Farm for Apple TV+. Matt collaborated with Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) on all VFX for this high-concept show and directed 7 of the 25-minute episodes. Matt’s directing CV is grounded in a thorough understanding of technical processes, maximising efficiencies, and magnifying creative. He earned his VFX stripes as Director of Wildbrain’s ambitious re-imagining of the iconic preschool show Teletubbies, 120-episodes, a challenging hybrid of green screen live-action performance and miniature/model scaling. In addition to his technical achievements, Matt has a love of performance and bringing out the best in actors, on set and on schedule, proven when he directed the BAFTA-nominated comedy-drama Waffle the Wonder Dog for BBC, with stunts, children, and animals. Matt also worked across all three seasons of the BAFTA award-winning family drama Topsy & Tim for CBeebies. In addition to his credits in the family genre, Matt is known as the start-up director on YouTube’s Rule’m Sports starring KSI which has since amassed over 216 million views.
