Read MoreOver the course of the past year at BBC Radio Scotland I have gained live and pre-rec production experience and moved to pitching and self-producing packs for transmission as well as contributing to forward planning and development of programmes. I’ve been active in developing my own ideas for TV, radio and online.Pitching my own ideas has allowed me to cover developing stories in the arts in Scotland and I have also self-produced a piece for Religion and Ethics based on the ethics of data. I found and researched the story of a man in Ayrshire hoping to create a new internet, secured an interview and matched his voice with expert contributors from Glasgow and Edinburgh. I wrote and recorded links to create a Current Affairs style thought piece on the ethics of our online data, TXing soon.As the Lead Writer for Backstage London and a contributing writer for the US print and online publication, I research and pitch my own stories, interview high-profile contributors (including MPs and industry figures) and manage a complex schedule of deadlines. Writing over 200 original pieces has honed my attention to detail and sharpened my journalistic sense of story, style and pace.I can self-record and edit audio confidently and have basic self-shooting and editing (FCP) skills, as well as the full range of office and online applications. Working on The Afternoon Show (formerly The Janice Forsyth Show), I have gained working knowledge of the BBC’s editorial guidelines, undertaken training (including working with children) and used various in-house booking and reporting systems.Coming from a career directing and supporting productions at some of the country’s leading theatres, including the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe, I can create engaging storytelling and original experiences for and with a diverse range of people.
