Hi!

I’m Jas- I’m a self-shooting director working between feature docs and TV.  I like to play with form, use humor, and work with emerging tech to create work for audiences who might not usually engage with documentary. My films have screened in top tier festivals and have won and been nominated for a number of awards including a Grierson, IDA, and British shorts and LFFF Audience Awards. I both develop and direct original stories, as well as working as a freelance DOP, camera person, or shooting AP. I have strong storytelling and story development skills, and lots experience setting up international shoots, some recent access challenges have included; an ocean-based tech company (Panama), woman’s prisons (Bolivia), psychiatric hospitals and social services (UK), organised crime groups (Brazil, UK), LGBT+ collectives (Brazil), and activist groups (UK, India, Bolivia). I often work with hard to reach contributors, and contributors with additional needs, and am able to create a safe space where they feel confident to express themselves, while making sure the production processes prioritises consent, contributor care, and tailored aftercare. I am trained in safeguarding, youth mental health first aid, trans awareness, and inclusion. I have been shooting for over 10 years, and specialise in fast paced obs-doc style shoots.  Read Less
