Like filming, I have done casting on more or less every project I have ever worked on- enjoying the process from scratch and fulfilling briefs with very pleasing results. I have a very intuitive nature and this really helps me in the casting process. I am also very open, compassionate and approachable which makes people feel at ease with me and which helps when it comes to more sensitive or difficult access. Regarding this, I have worked on projects that have been more challenging access-wise such as filming in hospitals and with the police and have been part of the team securing this access in the initial stages – such as Junior Doctors Series 1 whilst Hertfordshire Police had never agreed to filming before and so were quite anxious however after spending just one day working together with me they relaxed and allowed me access where needed. For Baby Borrowers, I had only one month to find about 18 children who would become the main contributors 'children' for this social experiment ob doc. Essentially asking parents to loan us their children aged from 3 to 14! I was doing this alone and on location in Newquay. Added to this, I talked to the Exec as I wanted to find a child with learning difficulties as we can never know what child we will give birth to and so I made it my mission to find a child with Downs to be involved. With determination and using all my personal skills I secured access to a little boy with Downs and it went on to provide a lovely story line for the programme with the teenage couple reacting in horror initially but with time their attitude changed completely and they loved him and were very sad to see him go.On Battlefront I was leading the casting team finding children and teenagers aged 14-21 who would be prepared to commit to 9 months working with us. Casting from scratch and dealing with educational institutions to find 20 young people was not an easy feat but we got a great cast in the end and Channel's 4's Exec expressed her delight commenting that it was the most diverse range of people she had seen in a long time.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
I am a mature and genuine person and I take pride in my work and I really do care about doing the best job I can. I know my skills and I am always keen to improve upon them and take myself out of my comfort zone. I do not say I can do something when I know I cannot so employers have trust in me and faith that I will deliver but at the same time will not turn an opportunity to try something new away – after all the only way to get better is to try something new!I have a good editorial head and like observing people and their words and actions – human behaviour is really very fascinating! I put in what I need in order to get something out meaning that contributors feel able to open to me because they trust in me. That is crucial to me and without this skill I wouldn’t be able to do what I love doing. I have a natural talent with people and being part of a journey they are on is a really interesting place to be able to put myself.I am very adaptable, able to move with ever-changing situations and deadlines and have often worked on my own in order to accomplish a brief. I am also good with fellow crew members and feel that my personality enables a working environment where people feel at ease and able to carry out their work too.
