Ryan joined Africa Media in 2017 as a wildlife filmmaking intern. His commitment to connect his highly developed knowledge of the biological world with video media was evident and resulted in his educational but highly entertaining documentary - Secrets of the Savanna. During his time with Africa Media he developed his technical abilities in media production at a fast rate and gained considerable skills in story development, camera operation and post production. In addition, he took on the challenge to present (host) his own documentary, and after spending considerable time gaining his confidence to talk on camera, carried out his role as a scientific educator and story teller exceptionally well. Particularly during the numerous occasions when crocodiles and lions did not behave as expected, which resulted in some brilliantly quintessential english lines from Ryan, such as: "I think I need a cup of tea.... with two sugars!". It was incredibly enjoyable to host Ryan, and his commitment and enthusiasm towards the project was contagious for the entire team. He has a real opportunity to make it as a wildlife filmmaker and/or onscreen host.
