I am a Series Producer and self shooter with strong editorial background producing content for peak time shows on UK channels, BBC 1 & 2, and Channel 5. I have recently finished directing a project shooting visual effects for a blue chip BBC NHU series. These were VFX plates captured on a Red Monstro 8K. The plates were all shot at different frame rates with blue screening for much of the scenes. The more complex CGI elements often required scenes to be Tiled. We gathered as much reference and scene data as possible with LiDAR, HDRI, Roundshot and Macbeth charts (with chrome and grey balls), Prior to this I produced and shot second camera for a BBC NHU film with a Sydney University scientist on Kangaroo habitats in northern NSW, presented by Gordon Buchanan. For Channel 5 in the UK I was the Series Producer for two new commissions: 'Big Week at the Zoo' and 'Springtime on the Farm' both of which continue to be commissioned. These are 6 camera OBs shot 'as live' with two day turnarounds to TX. I was the SP and OB director too. The presenters I worked with for these shows were Helen Skelton, Adam Henson, Lindsay Chapman, Nick Baker and Steve Leonard. My BBC experience as a producer includes flagship shows such as Gardeners' World, the RHS flower shows and Antiques Roadshow, . I have producer credits on BBC 4 documentaries, BBC 2's Saturday Kitchen and Wanted Downunder too. The shows I've produced have enabled me to work successfully with many high profile presenters including Fiona Bruce, Monty Don, Tony Robinson, gardening presenters Joe Swift, Sophie Raworth and Jo Whiley. 'Springtime on the Farm' was Channel 5's answer to the BBCs Springwatch and became its highest rating show but for the channel's established favourite, the 'Yorkshire Vet'. My team were 5 PDs, 3 researchers, 2 edit producers and more. My team and I pitched and produced 40 VTs which were shot in 6 weeks.  The same format applied to Channel 5's other new commission for which I was the SP, Big Week At the Zoo. Both shows were recommissioned by Channel 5 exec, Seb Cardwell. By comparison, as a producer for the 'Antiques Roadshow' I was responsible for making 2 x 1 hour shows from one day shoots at stunning locations round the country. With 120 staff and experts, 8 cameras, and lorry loads of kit it was a juggernaut of a show. I produced the content on the OB, ensured we had broadcast sequences in the can every half hour. I learned quickly to spot, absorb and shape stories, think creatively in the moment, and wrangle inexperienced contributors and experts. I am always interested in broadening my technical skills and being hands-on with the latest camera and editing technology. I will often be first or second camera on shoots. The depth of my interest in new technology influences how I think about creating and refining a series style. A Series Producer needs a fish-eye lens to see round all the corners of a busy job. Compliance, commissioner relationships, appointing and taking the lead with colleagues, liaising with stake holders, health and safety, child safety, and of course budgets.
