In 2005, Ash Jenkins started his career working for acclaimed British filmmaker Nick Broomfield, who pioneered the self-reflexive style or documentary mode with famous feature documentary classics such as The Leader, The Driver and The Driver’s Wife (1991), Kurt & Courtney (1998) and Biggie & Tupac (2002). The duo worked together on the feature documentary drama film ‘Ghosts’ (2006), where Ash’s talents in film editing were nurtured by Nick and film editor Peter Christelis. Ash received his first feature length Editor credit with the film Battle For Haditha (2008).Following the Broomfield experience, Ash went into feature length documentary editing where he worked with film language and narrative devices to create thought provoking story-telling across a number of award winning social based, such as Afghan Star (2009), a film about Afghanistan’s version of X Factor, where he travelled to Kabul to nurture a post production department of local editors to handle the post workflow of the project.Around this time Ash founded the production company and post house, Roundtable Films. Based in Soho (London), where he worked on his later films and trained a post-production crew responsible in working across TV series, Feature Documentary and Feature Film content.He then returned to Kenya, where he started freelancing for Quite Bright Films and other local productions companies in his capacity as Editor and Colour Grader. At Quite Bright Films, he has worked across a number of TV Commercials and TV productions, such as Royco Fuata Flava, Fearless Chef (Bush Larder) and Lions’ Den.Ash is now focusing his attention to Feature Length and TV documentaries in the UK.
