Currently out in the US working as a Shooting AP on a new sensitive access medical series follwing ocntributors living with some of the worlds rarest medical conditions.
I really enjoy working closely with contributors, and am particularly good at building trust and rapport with them. I have extensive experience of working on location, developing narratives on the go and producing contributors on the ground in difficult circumstances, from spending 8 months in Mexico following an elite unit of Mexican police hunting US fugitives, to travelling 14,000 km through China, Nepal, and India embedded with my contributors (Brian & Melvyn) on RATW, or spending 2 months on the run as part of the fugitive filming team on Hunted and Celebrity Hunted.
I am a strong shooter and used to shooting, directing, and producing multiple contributors and sequences on my own. My PDs and seniors are more than happy to give me the responsibility to shoot principal camera alone. For instance, when my PD got ill on RATW I covered her and filmed a key sequence on my own which made it to broadcast.
More recently, this can be seen through my work as Shooting Producer on feature doc All In The Game where I was integral to forming relationships with the contributors, managing many of those key relationships myself, helping develop their stories on the ground, and responsible for shooting key sequences alone.
Furthermore, I spent 4 years shooting principal camera (mainly on my own) for award-winning cinematic feature doc Off The Rails (2022), during which I worked with my director remotely who lives in New Zealand while I built the relationships with the cast and shot principal camera in the UK, both directing and producing sequences on the ground on my own. Off The Rails (2022) won numerous awards worldwide including Best Film at NZ Doc Edge which qualified it for the Oscars’ long list, and my Director was also nominated for a BIFA 2022.
As a Development AP I have a track record in securing commissions and development deals for broadcasters including raising over £120,000 for Taliban 2.0: A New Dawn (ZDF/ARTE), plus Parkour Changed Our Lives (BBC3), “Coke in the City” (BBC3), “Lorries” (C4).
I am full of energy and ideas, enthused by telling great stories, and relish the challenge of both development and production.
I’m looking to continue further honing my skills as a Shooting AP or in a development team.
